Since re-launching this site two weeks ago, we've come across numerous glitches that need resolving. One of them has to do with comments to our postings. Your feedback is encouraged and desired - wouldn't be much of a blog without it - but we have just realized that, at present, you can't leave any unless you have a Google account. (And, much as we love Google, that seems to us to be a silly impediment.)
It likely has something to do with just tweaking a few settings on Google's Blogger program. We tried to fix it ourselves, but none of our manuals on FORTRAN or COBOL provided any help. Then we turned for aid to the same folks who designed and installed the much-ballyhooed new payroll system in the Los Angeles Unified School District, thinking better of that idea when we realized that some of the district's teachers haven't been paid in over a year! Finally, we turned to the expertise of our very talented webmistress, who also hasn't been paid in over a year, but will be just as soon as we get our own multi-million-dollar payroll computer online.
In short, we're working on the problem and hope to have your comments posted here very soon. Thanks for your patience, The Management.
