Florida storage owners express regret about auctions
It's a sad story: folks put possessions in storage then don't pay the rent. Storage facilities are left with money-losing cubic footage and a sticky problem: Evict the tenant (and become the bad guys) or let it slide as long as possible. At some point, the problem is resolved by either the tenant getting current on rent or the facility selling the contents of the renter's unit at a public auction.
A story called "More Auctions, More Vacancies" in Hernando Today, published by The Tampa Tribune spotlights this issue from the perspective of five Tampa, Florida-area storage owners.
Synopsis: "It's the economy, stupid." A very telling economic bell-weather, perhaps. Compelling reading.
