Super Bowl Tix Already Getting Pricey on eBay
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
Tickets for the Super Bowl, between the Pittsburg Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals, have already found their way to eBay. They're pricey. Factor in airfare to Tampa and hotel and you're gonna shell out more than a few large bills - very large. From Monday's edition of Arizona's AZ Family.com:
What would it cost you to see the Cardinals take on the Steelers?
It probably comes as no surprise that if you want to watch the Super Bowl in person it's gonna cost you, but if you're willing to spend there are plenty of ways to get there.
At AAA Arizona travel agent Mark Dechnsky is busy helping Arizona Cardinals fans get to Super Bowl 43. He says, "There are offers out there. It's not cheap."
Dechnsky says AAA is offering a package deal per person that includes three nights hotel at the Hilton Garden Inn Lakeside, a ticket to the game plus breakfast, three-day car rental and roundtrip game day transfers.
Dechnsky explains, "It's going for about $4,200 per person excluding airfare."
Deals through the internet are not much cheaper for Super Bowl weekend. 3TV found on Southwest Airlines flights from Phoenix to Tampa start at $467 each way. On U.S. Airways flights are running about $334 each way.
On Travelocity deals on flight plus hotel range from just over $800 to over $2,000 and on Orbitz flight and hotel start at $1,600.
Keep in mind you will still have to purchase tickets to the game and the prices are going at about $1,075 each.
However you decide to get there Dechnsky says make your plans sooner than later. "Everything is subject to availability."
The Cardinals-Eagles NFC Championship Game sold out within minutes of tickets becoming available.
A quick check by 3TV on eBay showed Super Bowl ticket packages selling from $1500.00 to over $10,000.00 depending on how many are included.
So once you shoulder the cost of the tickets, all you need is a round-trip plane ride!
A quick check of Southwest Airlines showed round-trip tickets for Super Bowl weekend running just under the $500.00 mark for a single adult.
Ticket fraud is a common problem with the Super Bowl, and cropped up when Glendale hosted the game in 2008 so if you plan on shelling out for the tickets, be sure of the source.

Dear Superbowl Man,
Thanks MUCH for the tip. We will, just the same, urge our readers to use care and common sense. Since we've not used this service yet, we can't vouch for nor in any way support any claims made here by the poster.
